Between 2008 and 2011, a number of stakeholders, First Nations and regulatory agencies worked together to explore ways to implement Canada’s Wild Salmon Policy and collectively address unresolved concerns regarding the management of Skeena salmon and steelhead.

The Skeena Watershed Initiative (SWI) concluded its activities in October 2011. During its operation, the SWI directed a suite of scientific investigations to support improved management and conservation of Skeena salmon and steelhead. These projects were sponsored by the Pacific Salmon Foundation with funding support from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Living Rivers Trust Fund. The reports and other products from these projects are posted on this website, and we hope that they will be of use to those who are working to foster healthy wild salmon populations in the Skeena watershed.
