Conservation Units for Steelhead in the Skeena Watershed
Under this project Art Tautz has created the first delineation of Skeena Watershed steelhead conservation units that is consistent with the Wild Salmon Policy’s methodological approach. This project spatially defines steelhead conservation units using three key descriptors of within-species diversity relevant to local adaptation – habitat, life history and genetics. The focus of this project is on the Skeena drainage in support of regional management needs; ultimately the methods demonstrated under this project can be exported to other provincial steelhead populations.
